“Here’s the thing Liv, we need this quickly, we have a show to attend…”
Richard, the Sales Director, called me looking for a fairly swift branding job for a new product he and his team wanted to showcase at UK Construction Week at the NEC …in less than 30 days!
The product: a membrane (but to us laymen, it’s a breathable film) which is applied to windows, keeping you warm in winter and cool in summer. It saves on heating bills and is a lot cheaper than new windows.
I include a timeline below but note I did roughly 2-3 days a week on this project, it didn’t take up my entire month. I don’t recommend having such a short timeline to your project 😉

THE LOGO IDEAS BEGIN

A week into the project, the logo was signed off but the clock was still against us.
The lined sun, combines the sun with thermal rays which minimise within a square which symbolises a window. The gradient used on the full colour version further pushes the thermal aspect with the heat fluctuating. Hyphens often make logo design a little bit more awkward, so this one had the hyphen turned into a feature.
Gradients don’t always work in all applications, so as well as providing single colour versions of the logo I also provided flat orange versions. The logo was then provided as: landscape, portrait, logo mark and logo type with a slogan version being available too.

Liv is a first class designer – with a knack for interpeting product benefits, reviewing the industry they operate in, and coming up with a killer design. If you need creativity, efficiency, and “gentle” conversations from your designer when she spots you may have a made a minor error in using the brand. Go on, “Get Liv on it!”

Colour Palette and Typography
Therma-Film uses a deep navy alongside orange and off-white as it’s main colour scheme, with a darker navy and a blue on hand if we need a darker colour or want to portray cool instead of warmth.

Therma-Film looks slick with a typeface which has both expanded and condensed fonts available. It’s also a Google font which means it’s easy for anyone in their business to use and install.

NEXT, PRINTED BRAND COLLATERAL
Week two and a bit of September was spent on the print side of this project with everything approved and sent to print by 19th.

The lads were looking like a team and still promoting on their lunch breaks with these branded t-shirt designs.

No weedy roller banners here, 1 metre wide, tough quality roller banners ready for their NEC stand.

Strong first impressions with the product sheet printed as a thick, laminated four page leaflet – this was originally going to be two or more different flyers so I saved them a fair chunk of cash by suggesting we run with a four pager instead.

Slick business cards which feature super glossy high build Spot UV over the logo gradients for that pupil widening OoOo reaction, complete with space for scribbled notes on the reverse side.

SEPTEMBER 22nd
finally, Digital assets
Once the print was sent to the presses I could spend time on the digital side in the week before the show.

Richard needed branded LinkedIn pages, social content and presentations created. The caveat was that he needed to be able to edit and replicate them, as well as being able to put together technical documents and certificates for the products to prove they’re as good as they say they are to those who are interested.
So, I created used Adobe and converted them into their Canva Pro. This allowed them to be designed properly but edited in the future as a set of brand templates.

THE SHOW AND BEYOND

How did we get here?
For this project I explored the world of heat retention and eco friendly construction solutions. I did countless sketches and digital drafts and ended up providing four concepts for review. In brief, they’re below but the Therma-Sol team decided on the same day to run with the Lined Sun concept.
