HeatWave Poster

In November I started on the artwork for the HeatWave festival which took place across Australia. The line up for the HeatWave festival included: Kid Cudi, Tech N9ne, D12, Obie Trice, Chamillionaire and Crazy Town. The majority of the work I did required versions for; South Australia, Melborune, Brisbane, Sydney, Perth and Canberra but I will only show one of each.

The organizers of the Heatwave Festival found me through the personal piece I did of Tech N9ne; so the festival had that sort of abstract illustrated face feel about it. Along with there choice of bold summer colors which showed up brilliantly on the black backgrounds.

SA, Melbourne and Brisbane had party buses wrapped to promote the festival. Each one being slightly different. Due to the speed the work needed to be done and the 12 hour time change, I sent over files which the printers could edit in order to fit everything on the buses correctly so they didn’t all have the 100% original design on them. To have three buses with my design on them, driving around Australia was pretty awesome though!

Melbourne was plastered with the two color large format posters. I worked closely with the printer for this job so it was done correct. Turned out perfect! Melbourne also had various Billboards go up along with an overpass.

All the cities were plastered with the A3 heatwave posters with the relevant information for their venue/acts and so on.

Phil contacted me wanting some of his recent Photoshoot pictures to have some light based edits to them. He sent me some sample images of people light painting with sparklers, so I went ahead and showed him my business cards as I thought they may be along the lines of what he wants, and I was right. So I went ahead and did a similar effect with his pictures. The photos he sent across were ace, and I did ask myself how he didn’t fall flat on his face whilst having them taken! This piece is similar to The Game // Torn between Two Colors piece I did a while back. I like this style and have built on it & adapted it a little each time I use it. Again it has the glowing outlines of areas, with the graffiti sections, hue altered skin color etc.

As you can see …It’s got that abstract touch I do more and more these days, this is because I didn’t want to have to put any weed in the studio or flags because you just don’t really have a flag hanging in a studio lol. You just have to love that image of Elephant man though ;] Back cover coming soon…

Recently I’ve been feeling the need to try out completely different (and pretty odd) pieces whilst being ill because I like to put ALL into client work and not dodgy ill jobs lol. Mainly because I want to make my portfolio diverse as possible, as well as trying to always go outside my comfort zone and go thinking outside the box… infact so much so that I just put down my thoughts onto photoshop and see how it comes out. I don’t really ‘think’ when I do these pieces, I just do. I know theres some weird ideas lurking around in my brain so I’m just tryna let them come out.

I included Blue and Red as the main colors due to Game previously being a crip and then becoming a blood but claiming to be cool with both gangs. If you have no idea who the Bloods (red) and Crips (blue) are then here… They’re notorious gangs from the LA area (now spread to wider area… and a bunch of fake net-bangers lol) who formed back in the day. Now they apparently enjoy killing the other gangs over the colors they wear… bit sad really imo but ah well nothing you can do. Why can’t we just all get along?! Aha anyways that’s what fueled this piece. The graffiti is from LA itself. The font I seam to have fallen in love with for these abstract pieces is used :] I figured i’d make the blue skin more interesting by placing other photos of him on there.. angry poses ;] And of course glows… which I seam to use more and more each day lol. Lighting and glows has just become more important to me.

Yeah that’s about it. Welcome to my brain full of odd shit on the screen.

The inspiration for these two pieces came from the Mini Owners handbook, it has a photo album for you to take pictures with your mini on ‘adventures’.

All the pictures supplied were pretty boring and of course realistic so I decided to do this. There should be more coming soon when I get spare time..
