Here’s the slick new logo for Australian DJ, ELLUSiVE What dya think?!

Glad I’m not a tattoo artist… even a low detail doing the tats was painstaking!

Conquered the fear of doing hair. Okay so the hair on the picture wasn’t that detailed, but baby steps right? Plus… it’s a female and not a rapper for a change

I have been practicing on illustrator again. Can you tell by the amount of vector illustrations going up? haha. This one is of Ice Cube Slightly more detailed and smoother style again.

HeatWave Poster

In November I started on the artwork for the HeatWave festival which took place across Australia. The line up for the HeatWave festival included: Kid Cudi, Tech N9ne, D12, Obie Trice, Chamillionaire and Crazy Town. The majority of the work I did required versions for; South Australia, Melborune, Brisbane, Sydney, Perth and Canberra but I will only show one of each.

The organizers of the Heatwave Festival found me through the personal piece I did of Tech N9ne; so the festival had that sort of abstract illustrated face feel about it. Along with there choice of bold summer colors which showed up brilliantly on the black backgrounds.

SA, Melbourne and Brisbane had party buses wrapped to promote the festival. Each one being slightly different. Due to the speed the work needed to be done and the 12 hour time change, I sent over files which the printers could edit in order to fit everything on the buses correctly so they didn’t all have the 100% original design on them. To have three buses with my design on them, driving around Australia was pretty awesome though!

Melbourne was plastered with the two color large format posters. I worked closely with the printer for this job so it was done correct. Turned out perfect! Melbourne also had various Billboards go up along with an overpass.

All the cities were plastered with the A3 heatwave posters with the relevant information for their venue/acts and so on.

So, TUFLUV came back and wanted me to work a bit of magic on the cover for the album, before the album: Suicide Smoke. It’ll be released as a free download to hype up his album, Suicide Note. The initial Illustration was created by www.homeinvasion.tv (see below). After chatting to TufLuv I decided to go for a green look to this cover due to the title. The album cover had a more sinister red tint to it, to represent blood, but with Smoke being in the title it only seamed right to make it green and some purple to make it POP.

HOW TO WIN:

Choose the piece you’d like to win, either from the image below, or from here for a better look. Open up paint or similar basic art program, use canvas size of 800 x 1131 and do your paint version of the piece. The three which either make me laugh the most or look the most amazing win.

Upload your finished image to imageshack.us or Photobucket.com or similar and post the link to it on the three29design wall with a little message.

The Full Metal Jacket piece I created was chosen to feature in the digital Stanley Kubrick exhibition which ran alongside the Paris Exhibition. I also had several posters I created picked up by The Picmix Store and sold.

Locally, three29design has gained exposure, seeing as we did things the other way round by concurring overseas before the local area. I also was asked to work with my local Peugeot garage – this happened via twitter, so lets all bow to the mighty twitter and it’s powers.

On top of that, on December 2nd I won South Cheshire Chamber’s Young Business Person of the Year award sponsored by Bentley Motors. To have such a huge company pick my name to win the award was just amazing, thank you to Bentley and SC Chamber! I have 9 more years to enter for this award so let’s see how next year goes

I was involved in the artwork for Australia’s Heatwave Festival which will take place in January. What an awesome way to kick off the year. A bus has been driving around with my design on it, as well as a plug for the website, always good! That bus will also be home to Tech N9ne for a short while… I am a fan so that was pretty cool. There will be a fair few Billboards going up around Melbourne with my artwork on it (and logo) along with large format two color posters. This is pretty awesome, especially those on the line up are Kid Cudi, Tech N9ne, Obie Trice, D12 and more!! And this Festival isn’t happening in just one city, it’s moving all the way around Australia.

I was on local radio quite a few times, speaking about design the first time round, social media the second time then a mix of the two on the other shows. This was quite big for me, because I am shy and I’m not great at speaking, I’m an email and text person! Nerve-racking indeed, but it wasn’t that bad. So, thank you Redshift. In January I will doing my first exhibition stand at one of the Hub’s networking events too

I saw my work featured on various Kano + Mikey J videos – totally didn’t notice this for months but when I finally did it put a smile on my face. My first Halloween giveaway was successful and made the recipients smile which is always a plus. Many more in the future ladies and gents! Now, the iPad… I said I’d never buy one however, it eventually became clear it would be handy to take a portfolio around with me, so I welcome one into the business.

On top of those, I have gained many new clients, along with working with the clients who constantly return to work with me. Thank you guys Keep bringing me awesome, imaginative briefs in 2012!

Broo contacted me wanting both an illustration and a Soundclick layout for 3rd World Ent ran by him and his brother. He chose to go with a Gold package and requested a theme which kept the slums in mind. At first I thought of having images of actual slums on the layout however, I thought that combining wood, corrugated iron and his request of wires to build up elements for the page could look a lot better… and it did
